Diamonds set in the six and the nine, a fluted bezel and a flat bracelet is an unusual set of instructions. The stones and the grooved gold both want attention, while the flat Oyster links refuse to give any. The slate ground holds the middle and stops the dial from tipping over fully into decoration territory. Very few Datejust 126231 examples appear to have left the factory in this particular arrangement of parts at any point.
The 36 mm case is Stainless Steel with a fluted Everose Gold bezel sitting directly above it. A slate dial carries Roman numerals in gold, and the six and the nine are set with diamonds. The date appears at three under a Cyclops lens, with baton hands crossing the sunray finish below. Three-piece solid links form the Oyster bracelet, Everose Gold at the center, on a folding Oysterclasp.
