Mother-of-pearl has almost no color at all of its own, which means it takes whatever the metal around it gives, and yellow gold gives it a great deal more than Everose does. The same shell that reads cool on the pink gold version reads distinctly warm on this one. Two otherwise identical dials end up looking like two different materials. Rolex withdrew the Day-Date 128348RBR, and the baguette shell dials were consistently scarce at retail throughout.
A 36 mm case in Yellow Gold sits under a diamond-set bezel, on a President bracelet in the same gold with its links set with stones. Ten baguette-cut diamonds mark the hours across a dial cut from white mother-of-pearl, with plain baton hands above. The day is spelled in full at twelve, the date sits at three under the Cyclops, and a concealed Crownclasp closes the bracelet.
